Ad-Aware Free users can download Ad-Aware at www.download.com

If you are a Pro or Total Security license holder:

Log-in to the support center and download the latest version of Ad-Aware (click) here, from the link in the 'My Downloads' section.

You can otherwise download the software installation file from the link sent to you via email shortly after your purchase had been processed.

If you experience issues with connecting to the Internet, try turning off the Total Security Firewall to determine if that is the cause.
To do this, open up the Total Security Interface and click the button beside the Firewall feature and then select Disable Firewall.
If your Internet connection returns when the Firewall is off, try resetting it.
To do this, click on Change Settings beside the Firewall section.
In this new window, select the appropriate Rule Set, click Edit->Switch to Extended Edit Mode.
In the Extended Editing Mode, click the Reset button.
This should hopefully resolve the issue.

If you can’t get Ad-Aware Total Security updates, you should first make sure that you have registered your license so you can obtain Internet updates. Please follow the Registration procedure for Total Security in this FAQ article:

How do I activate the version of Ad-Aware I paid for?

If you have already registered, make sure that no other firewall software is running on the computer. Turn off any other firewalls and then try updating again.

If the problem persists, try rebooting your computer and then try updating again.

If you get the message “Update Server Temporarily Unavailable” this might mean that we are experiencing high traffic or similar issues. In that case, try updating again later when the update server is running at full service again.

If you can not access certain websites, you might need to add them to the whitelist in Ad-Aware Total Security.
To do this, open up the Ad-Aware Total Security Interface and click on Define Exceptions in the Web Protection section.
In the Whitelist window, click New and type in the URL for the webpage (For Example http://www.youtube.com/)

If you experience a slowdown on your computer while running certain applications or online games you might need to add them to the Virus Monitor exception list.
In order to do this, click the options button in the Virus Check section.
In this new window that opens up, click the Monitor tab and then the Exceptions button.
In the Monitor Exceptions window, click New and select whether to add a directory or a specific file to the exceptions list.
If you wish to add a directory to the exceptions list click the …-button and then browse to the location on your hard drive where the program is located (C:\directory\ )  and click OK.
If you wish to add a specific file to the exception list you will have to type in where the file is located (C:\directory\program.exe ) and then click OK.
The program or directory is now no longer monitored by Total Security.  For this reason it is always recommended to scan the program using Ad-Aware Total Security before adding it to the exception list.
