New Rogue: VirusProtector

by LS Anders on March 8th, 2010 in Rogues, Security Alert.

VirusProtector is the latest (fourth) generation of the WiniGuard rogue anti-malware family.

VirusProtector uses fake online scanners to scare the user into installing the rogue. Once installed it will drop and detect several false infections. The user is required to license the software in order to remove these infections.

Ad-Aware will detect VirusProtector as Win32.FraudTool.VirusProtector.
