New Rogue: System Protector

by LS Anders on April 2nd, 2009 in Rogues.

System Protector is yet another rogue anti-virus program.  It comes with the normal pretty homepage with some fake press reviews, etc.

Looking closer at the homepage, and also - once installed - at the GUI, it becomes clear that System Protector actually is nothing more than a clone of an already known rogue, Spy Protector.

As with many other rogues, it will show lots of false detections and require you to license the program to remove them.  It will also present nag pop-up screens with the same message.

One thing that makes System Protector stand out a little from other rogues is that they also added some protection to make it harder to investigate it.
