Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+ 11 vs. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro
Ad-Aware 11’s release is just around the corner. We’re really excited to finally make it available to everyone in the next few days.
Ad-Aware has come a long way since its origins as a simple adware remover. These days, Ad-Aware is a full strength anti-malware program with multiple awards and certifications under its belt, from the most rigorous testing labs to internationally available periodicals like PC Mag.
Everyone knows that two anti-virus programs on the same computer usually don’t work well together so we built Ad-Aware to co-exist with other AV programs.
Since Ad-Aware can be installed as a second line of defense alongside an anti-virus program, we thought we’d have a friendly competition with some other anti-malware products to see who provided better detection rates. For this round we did an on-demand detection test where Ad-Aware 11 Free went toe to toe with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro. The test was designed to demonstrate each product’s ability to detect against a broad range of new threats.
We scanned both engines against a set of 55105 samples collected the day prior to the test. Each engine was updated with the latest definition files. Scans were initiated using each engine's default settings.
Out of the 55105 samples tested, we found that Ad-Aware Free detected a hefty 98.66% of threats compared to Malwarebytes Pro’s detection rate of 64.52%.
Round 1 goes to Ad-Aware 11 Free!
