Microsoft Updates available

Microsoft have released a number of patches to fix recently reported vulnerabilities within Windows, Office and Internet Explorer. These vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to gain control of your computer or cause it to crash.

Tips on how to protect your privacy while using location-based services.


A few weeks ago, Facebook launched its new location-based service called Facebook Places. The feature lets users check in to different locations, via smartphones, and to share their location with their Facebook friends. It also gives users the option to “tag” friends who are with them at that same location.
Just as any location-based service would, this raises a multitude of security and privacy issues.


As a response to the everyday increasing level of cyber attacks the EU Commission has presented, on September 30, 2010, a proposal for a new EU Directive on attacks against information systems.


Adobe have published a security update addressing critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Acrobat 9.3.4 (and earlier versions)

The vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

Windows users of Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4 (and earlier versions) are advised to upgrade to Adobe Reader 9.4

AntiVirusStudio 2010 is a new rogue anti-virus application. It is a clone of DesktopDefender2010.

















SmartSecurity is a new rogue antivirus application. It is a clone of SmartVirusEliminator.















Adobe will publish security updates addressing a critical vulnerability in Reader & Acrobat (CVE-2010-2883) on 5th October 2010.
