Tips and Tactics

Since its public release on October 22, there’s been quite a bit of talk on the new Windows 7 operating system.

What does the new operating system mean in terms of your security; is it really the most secure version of Windows to be developed? Unlike the Vista release, which introduced many new changes and features, Windows 7 is touted as a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line. And, without a doubt, there are new security and privacy features in the new operating system that users are taking note – and taking advantage – of.

Information security expert, Tony Bradley, gives an in-depth look at security measures in Windows 7 in a recent PC World article. Be sure to have a look at the article, Five Things You Should Know About Windows 7 Security, to learn more.

Do you still need additional security measures in place if you upgrade your system? Absolutely. The fact remains that the best defense is a multi-layered approach with anti-virus, anti-spyware and a firewall. The next question on your mind is likely – is your Ad-Aware software compatible? Ad-Aware Free Anti-Malware, Ad-Aware Plus Internet Security, and Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security are compatible with Windows 7. So, if or when you decide to make the transition to the new operating system, here at Lavasoft, we’re ready!
